Laptop Doesn’t Recognize RoomHub over USB
If your laptop doesn’t detect RoomHub when connected over USB, follow these steps in order.
1. Test a Direct Connection
Use a short USB cable
Connect the laptop directly to RoomHub
Avoid wall plates, extenders, or hubs
This quickly confirms whether the issue is with the cable path or devices.
2. Check the USB Setup
If the direct connection works, review your USB installation:
Cable length matters
USB cables longer than recommended can cause detection issues
3–5 meters is typically safe (depending on USB version)
Avoid USB hubs with long or active USB cables
Combining hubs with active or extended cables often causes detection problems
Keep the signal path as simple as possible
Reseat connections
Unplug and reconnect both ends
Try a different USB port on the laptop
Result
With a direct connection, supported cable length, and no hubs in the signal path, RoomHub should be recognized automatically by your laptop.
